Guitar Chords
Many friends have said at different times that they really need a
sheet of guitar chords. Not a book of "1000 basic chords", though
those exist and are very useful, but a reliable list of a few basic
chords in each key that can fit on one or two sheets of paper that you
can print out, put in your pocket, take on holiday, write on, lose,
print out again, etc.
If this is what you're looking for, try this chord sheet. (I made this years ago
on an old Acorn machine, and nowadays I only have a scan of the
existing hardcopies, so this is a fairly big file (1.3MB).)
For each of the 12 notes / keys (C, C#, D, Eb, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb,
B) this gives the Major, Minor, 7th, Min 7th, 6th, 9th, Maj 7th, and
Sus 4th chords. That's more than enough to fake most of the songs
you'll ever be asked to play round a campfire.
Fiscal Policy Song
I've written another song which goes by the scintillating title of
"Fiscal Policy." There have been a few requests for the words, so
here they are.
Our Song for Marriage Equality
Maryl and I were recently married in San Francisco and were
unexpectedly caught up in history.
We've never recorded a song before, but there's a first time
for everything ...

Wed in San Francisco
Well we went down to San Francisco
Hoping that we wed would be.
There were sixteen hundred merry gay couples
My lass Maryl and me.
And we were waiting three long hours -
Some were waiting fifty years.
And the pressmen they were there with cameras
Show the world those happy tears!
But some they say this love's condemned
In a book about Jacob's Children fine
And he had two wives and a great great life
And a couple of slave girl concubines.
And some they claim it injures nature,
While their big cars burn the skies,
With your pizza box and your TV screen
While the good green earth around you dies.
And so it was with education,
Women's suffrage, slavery.
"Rights for us but not for others -
God and Nature both agree!"
*** Silly penny whistle fanfare solo verse ***
There were young and old and short and tall,
And folk of every race so fair,
And a love so true, and me and you
A privelege to be standing there.
So raise your voice in San Francisco,
Or wherever you may be -
Those who love has joined together
Ever will united be!
Dominic Widdows
The chords (C and G) are available from the composer upon request.
